The capability of the Force's Gambling Expert Cadre has been given a welcome boost with the addition of 24 officers who completed a Gambling Expert Training Course at PHQ last month. The new intake included Woman Senior Inspector Ng Wing-sze from Criminal Intelligence Bureau (CIB), the Force's first female Gambling Expert. Being volunteers selected for the course, the officers recently received their certificates from CIB Chief Superintendent Lo Mung-hung at the conclusion of their three-week intensive training. CSP Lo thanked the officers for joining the Cadre and encouraged them to make more contributions to anti-gambling operations. Senior Inspector Dave Wan of CIB and his staff organised the training course with valuable input from the Narcotics Bureau's Financial Investigations Division, Organised Crime and Triad Bureau, Prosecutions Division of Department of Justice, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and Hong Kong Jockey Club. The course provided training on theory and practices, gambling methods, illegal gambling, bookmaking, betting rules of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and relevant legislation. The trainees also presented study projects and took part in mock court exercises. The latest intake has brought the strength of the Force Gambling Expert Cadre to 63 officers, who are ready to assist frontline officers and courts.
