The Commissioner for Labour, Mrs Cherry Tse, has thanked the Force for rendering support and assistance during the recent industrial action by bar benders.

In an e-mail to Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing, Mrs Tse said: "Please accept my sincerest thanks for all your support and assistance during the bar benders' industrial action. Even when our requests were made at short notice and during unsocial hours, you made us feel welcome. That was a great comfort to my team and me when we were seeking to grapple with a fast evolving crisis.

"The professionalism and quality vigilance with which you and your team monitored the situation and executed intervention at appropriate times helped the Government strike a sensible balance between maintaining public order and respecting freedom of expression. You and your colleagues have made the Hong Kong Police Force the pride of Hong Kong."
