Mr Mok Pak-wan is so devoted to his duties as a Senior Police Constable (Auxiliary) that the last four hours of the last day of his 28-year auxiliary police service has brought him something to cherish for a long time to come. Patrolling in the vicinity of the Exchange Square with another Police Constable (Auxiliary) Lee Man-ki, at about 7:45 pm on August 7, Mr Mok apprehended a man as the latter assaulted a woman and tried to snatch her handbag. Follow-up investigation revealed that the suspect was also possessing a number of suspected forged passports and identity documents. This good arrest has earned for Mr Mok the compliments of Hong Kong Island Regional Commander Hung Hak-wai. In an e-mail to ADC CDIST AUX Terence Wong, Mr Hung said: "The case attests to not only the professionalism and determination of both PC(A) Lee Man-ki and SPC(A) Mok Pak-wan, but also the quality services and contributions rendered by our auxiliary colleagues, who ably assist in maintaining law and order." Mr Hung added that he was thrilled by the good arrest before Mr Mok's retirement from the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force (HKAPF) at the age of 55. Mr Mok has also received his last police compliment from Acting Central District Commander Mark Buxton. Back in October 2001, Mr Mok also won a commendation for bravery by the Director of Marine and compliment from the HKAPF Commandant for saving a drowning woman from the harbour. "I believe every officer would have done what I've done. The difference is the case just happened shortly before my retirement, which makes me appreciate the value of police work. I like police work and I'll miss it very much," said Mr Mok as he finished his last investigation report.
