As grammar is the key to mastering English, the Police English Club (PEC) conducted two sharing sessions entitled "Magic English Grammar" on September 21 and 28, with a Senior Lecturer of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Mr Lawrence Choi Ying-choi, chairing the sessions that aimed at promoting English usage in the Force and advancing the language ability of the participants. Besides club members, officers interested in joining the Potential Officer Scheme also joined the sessions in order to brush up their writing skills. At both sessions, Mr Choi talked about how to effectively avoid common mistakes in English grammar, and advance English standard. All the 60 participants found Mr Choi's presentation very useful and interesting. Apart from the grammar sessions, the Police English Club also organises a regular "English Conversation Circle" to provide an opportunity for members and their families to chat in English in an informal atmosphere. Native English speakers are present at all those sessions to provide guidance on pronunciation, grammar and English expressions. The forthcoming "English Conversation Circles" will be held at 6:30 pm on November 14 and December 12 at PSRC. Police English Club members wishing to attend may make bookings by e-mail to: police.englishclub@gmail.com.
