Speaking to OffBeat, IP Yu pointed out that Artistic Cycling is a cross between gymnastics and cycling, which requires a high degree of strength and coordination. He has been practising the sport for 17 years and has been the Asian Champion for seven years and the Hong Kong Champion for 10 years. In 2005, he finished in 6th place at the World Championships (Men Singles Event).

After joining the Force, IP Yu had worried that his busy work would affect his participation in competitive competitions, but subsequently he has been able to continue with his favourite sport, thanks to the support and encouragement of his commanders in New Territories North.

IP Yu is now practising hard for the upcoming World Indoor Cycling Championships scheduled to be held in Switzerland later this month.
