September and October saw the Police Cycling Club (PCC) reaping a bumper crop of results in cycling, triathlon and adventure races. The streak of victories began on Sunday, September 9 at the Race 1 of the Action Asia Off Road series at Pui O, Lantau, when Station Sergeant (SSgt) Aaron Fong Yuk-leung took first place in his age group (40-49), covering an 8-km run and a 15-km mountain bike course in one hour and 54 minutes. This placed him 7th overall against a field of international entrants.

Next up was the Hong Kong Mountain Bike series at Ting Ping Shan, Sheung Shui, on September 23, when Sergeant (Sgt) Philip Chan Chik-fai took first place in his age group (40-49) over a demanding and hilly 18-km course, holding off the opposition to come home in one hour and eight minutes.

To round off the month of September on Sunday 30 at the Osim ITU Hong Kong Triathlon, Woman Police Constable (WPC) Chow Pui-yan took first place in the ladies 30-39 age group over the Olympic distance in a time of two hours, 37 minutes and 55 seconds. Facing tough international competition, WPC Yan beat her nearest rival by two minutes and 30 seconds. Also out on the course was Sgt Philip Chan Chik-fai, who took second place in the Sprint Triathlon for the men's 40-49 age group in one hour, 26 minutes and 10 seconds.

Then on October 14, PCC members were out in force for the Action Asia Off-Road series Race 2 in the Tai Lam Country Park for a 5-km run, followed by 20 kilometres on the mountain bike. WPC Constable Sean Ho Kit-ying, despite a flat tyre, hung in there and took first place in the ladies event, coming home in one hour 42 minutes and 56 seconds. SSgt Aaron Fong Yuk-leung continued his run of good results, taking third place in the men's 40-49 age group in one hour, 29 minutes and 45 seconds.

"These are excellent results, with each competitor rising to the challenge and exceeding expectations," commented PCC Chairman Steve Wordsworth.

PCC holds training sessions every Thursday evening in Sha Tin. These are mixed ability sessions with everyone welcome to join.
