The Financial Investigations Division of the Narcotics Bureau (NB), in conjunction with the Police College, hosted the Financial Investigation Course 2007 (FIC) in English and Cantonese between September 17 and 21 and between October 22 and 26 respectively. The theme of this annual training course was "Gaming Industry and Financial Crime".

Held almost annually since 1989, the FIC has been well received by local officers and those from other jurisdictions, who were eager to develop their skills to combat money laundering.

Owing to the FIC's previous success, the English and Cantonese sessions attracted 45 and 52 participants respectively. More than half of them were senior regulatory and law enforcement officers from jurisdictions outside Hong Kong, including the Mainland, Australia, Macao, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and the United Kingdom.

Speakers from various professions in the private and public sectors addressed the audiences on many issues.

The participants regarded the FIC as not only a learning forum but also an opportunity for professionals from various agencies and areas of expertise to share experiences.

Chief Superintendent Peter Else in charge of NB, and his deputy, Woman Senior Superintendent Lam Man-sai, presented certificates of attendance to the participants at the training course's closing ceremony.
