Senior Assistant Commissioner Tsang Wai-hung was appointed Deputy Commissioner (Management) on January 7 to succeed Mr Fung Siu-yuen who proceeded on pre-retirement leave on the same day. Commenting on the appointment, Commissioner Tang King-shing expressed full confidence in Mr Tsang with regard to his new post. "With nearly 30 years of service, Mr Tsang possesses an extensive knowledge of the operations and management of the Force. He is eminently qualified to discharge his responsibilities as a Deputy Commissioner," said Mr Tang. Mr Tang also praised Mr Fung's contributions to policing in Hong Kong. "In over 35 years of service in the Force, Mr Fung has filled a number of key posts and undertaken a wide range of onerous and demanding duties in the Crime Wing and, since 2002, as Deputy Commissioner (Management). His outstanding achievements have contributed significantly to the maintenance of law and order in Hong Kong and the well being of the Force," he noted. Earlier on January 4, CP presented promotion letters to four officers, Mr Koo Sii-hong, Mr Austin Kerrigan, Mr Leung King-hang and Mr Chan Lok-wing. With effect from January 7, Mr Koo has been promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner to succeed Mr Tsang as Director of Operations while Mr Kerrigan to Assistant Commissioner (Support). Mr Leung and Mr Chan have been promoted to Chief Superintendent and Superintendent respectively.
