The Joint Management Committees for the Police Children's Education Trust (PCET) and the Police Education and Welfare Trust (PE&WT) met on January 23 to approve applications for scholarships, bursaries and compassionate or disabilities grants for the 2007/08 academic year with a budget of $6.26 million.

A total of 92 scholarships will be awarded, comprising 59 Outstanding Secondary Six Students Scholarships, 32 Outstanding Year One University Students Scholarships and one Providence Foundation Medical Scholarship for Year One Medical Student.

In addition, 466 applications for bursaries and 208 for compassionate and disabilities grants were approved at the meeting. Disbursement of the scholarships, bursaries and grants will start next month.
