A total of 452 young people, including police officers and Junior Police Call members, were presented with bronze awards of the Hong Kong Award for Young People (HKAYP) Scheme by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing and the Chairman of HKAYP Award Council, Mr Ho Che-leung, at the Police Sports and Recreation Club last month.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Yam said the HKAYP emphasised the importance of voluntary participation with no competition involved. Participants must overcome every challenge brought about by HKAYP activities with self-discipline and perseverance in order to achieve their goals.

"In fact, the trainees have achieved personal developments during the process. They have become more enthusiastic and responsible citizens. The HKAYP activities organised by the police are in line with the Force's strategic direction 'Engaging the Community'. Young people can learn more about police officers during the activities, and communications and co-operation between the two parties can thus be enhanced," he added.

At the same ceremony, HKAYP instructors were also presented with Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their commitment and dedication.
