The Narcotics Bureau (NB) has once again earned the compliments of an overseas law enforcement agency - the Australian Federal Police (AFP) - for assisting in combating transnational drugs trafficking.

With the assistance of NB, the AFP apprehended two Australian males for trafficking in three litres of liquid methamphetamine in VSOP bottles. Upon being intercepted, both traffickers presented fake receipts purporting to have purchased the VSOP from the airport duty-free shop. NB further assisted in the subsequent prosecution by coordinating and arranging a manager from the duty-free shop to give evidence in the first ever video-link testimony between the two jurisdictions on February 26, last year. The two traffickers were sentenced to three and 12 years' imprisonment.

On behalf of the AFP, Mr Paul Osborne, Commander of International Network, presented the "Managers Certificate" in AFP's Hong Kong office on March 4 to five NB officers who were led by NB Chief Superintendent Peter Else.
