Senior Inspector Edward Kwan Wood-kai, an instructor at the Junior Police Officer Development Learning Division of the Police College, recently gave a talk at a seminar entitled "Problem Gambling in the Workplace and the Family". The seminar was part of a series organised by the Civil Service Training and Development Institute (CSTDI) to promote work-life balance in the civil service.

SIP Kwan is a qualified counsellor on pathological gambling. He became the first certified gambling counsellor in Hong Kong after attending a Force-sponsored overseas course in Canada in 1998.

About 80 participants from various bureaux and departments, including Education and Manpower Bureau, Hospital Authority, Housing Department, Department of Heath and other disciplined services, found the seminar very useful in helping them handle their colleagues or family members with gambling behaviour.

Meanwhile, the Secretary for the Civil Service has thanked the Director of the Police College for providing valuable support for the seminar, and CSTDI hopes to develop further collaboration with the College.
