Given the importance of Police Public Relations Branch's (PPRB) roles, newly appointed PPRB Chief Superintendent Ng Ka-sing looks forward to working closely with unit commanders and frontline officers to further enhance the Force's image and reputation, and at the same time strengthen community relations so as to enlist more public support for fighting crime, and to ensure Hong Kong remains one of the safest cities in the world.

He pointed out that the performances of the Force always enjoy public recognition. He recalled: "When I commanded the Tuen Mun District, I appreciated frontline staff's enthusiasm and dedication. For years, the various Police Community Relations Offices have worked very hard in playing the role as the bridge between the police and the public, and the local communities have given officers' performances and professional abilities a positive evaluation and support."

He believes the Force has to further promote the culture of service quality and to strive to provide quality services to the public in accordance with its motto, "We Serve with Pride".

Hosting a tea reception for the media on March 10 when he took up his new appointment, Mr Ng emphasised: "I'll continue listening to the views of various sectors in a proactive and open manner, and strengthening communication and co-operation with media friends."

"PPRB always aspires to establishing a constructive work partnership with the media. In this endeavour, I myself and my staff will act quickly for things requiring a swift response, in order to ensure that everybody, in particular members of the public, understands better the work of the police," he added.

Mr Ng also stressed that the Force is open to and accepts the views of the public, monitoring organisations, media and even the staff. The Force also fortifies its public image with accumulated experiences, constant improvements and research into best practices.

Looking forward to the challenges of his new job, he said he would regard views and suggestions as a motivating force for him.
