Do you want your family to have a more secured future? The Family Protection Fund provides a fundamental and comprehensive protection against contingencies for you and your family. The Family Protection Fund, administered with the assistance of the Personnel Services & Staff Relations Branch, is an insurance scheme tailor-made for officers at Inspectorate rank and above and all civilian officers in the Force. It provides a maximum insurance protection of HK$500,000 in the unfortunate event that an insured officer dies whilst in service or suffers from varying degrees of permanent disability caused by accidents. The Fund is re-open now until April 30 for applications from disciplined or civilan officers who have missed the opportunity to join the Fund. After this date, only new officers are eligible to apply for membership within the first three months of joining the Force on recruitment or transfer. For this re-opening exercise, each new member should pay HK$515 as admission fee. A cheque for this amount, together with the application form, should be sent to the Secretariat of Family Protection Fund, Personnel Services & Staff Relations Branch, 38/F, Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai. A member of the Fund needs to make a monthly contribution, which will be deducted from his monthly salary. The current monthly contribution is $50. In addition, a Family Protection Fund member who has joined the Fund for five years or more and is a contributor to the Fund at the time of retirement, is entitled to a souvenir on retirement and a special grant of HK$5,000 on death after retirement. For more details and application form, visit the PS&SR Branch website on POINT or call PS&SR Branch hotline on 2860-3200. The Management Committee and the insurance company concerned will consider each application on its own merits. Membership will only be valid from the date when direct deduction of the monthly contribution is made from payroll through the Treasury. The monthly contribution after July 2008 will be subject to a new insurance contract.
