Information wanted on old paths

Mr Guy Shirra, who served in the Force between 1967 and 1997, is looking for help in his efforts to preserve Hong Kong's ancient roads or boulder track ways. He is also looking for former members of the Village Patrol Unit between 1971 and 1973 and anyone with any old photographs of boulder paths, etc.

When you are out running or walking in the countryside, please take note of any of Hong Kong's ancient roads or boulder track ways you come across. These are paths made hundreds of years ago for the movement of people and goods between towns and villages and are surely worth preserving as part of Hong Kong's heritage. Guy hopes to get them marked and included in the countryside maps in a distinctive manner.

You may help the boulder track way survey by providing information on the start and finish locations, map references and locations or villages, etc. and sending the information, with any photographs, to guyshirra@gmail.com or by fax 2328-2218.

Village Patrol Unit officers came across many boulder track ways in the early 70s
