Chief Superintendent Chau Kwok-leung, Chairman of the Police Athletics Club (PAC), has thanked all volunteers for contributing to the successful staging of the 12th Hong Kong Marathon on February 17, and congratulated runners who had finished the race in high spirits.
Most Supportive Group Award With the overwhelming support by 882 Force members, the Force ranked as the second largest organisation taking part in the race, winning the 1st runner-up place of the Most Supportive Group Award. Thanks must go to the Personnel Services and Staff Relations Branch of Personnel Wing for sponsoring healthy lifestyle T-shirts to encourage participation of Force runners. Moreover, with the valuable support by the Police Photography Club, PAC managed to organise photo-taking arrangements for runners wearing the Force T-shirts. Corporate Challenge 2008 The Hong Kong Police Marathon Team, comprising Larry Chan Wai-ping, Ho Kam-fuk, Lai Hok-yan and Leung Wai-hung, beat other corporate teams to become the Overall Champion of the Full Marathon category of the Corporate Challenge 2008. Disciplined Services 10-km Invitation Race A team of 10 officers captured the 1st runner-up place in the Disciplined Services 10-km Invitation Race, and received the trophy from Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee. For individual awards, congratulations go to PC Lai Hok-yan and WDPC Wong Siu-ping, who finished the Full Marathon at two hours 29 minutes and two hours 54 minutes respectively, seizing the honour of being the fastest male and female Hong Kong marathon runners. Their dedication and enthusiasm are exemplary to all other runners. Also in the Full Marathon, Ho Kam-fuk, a civilian officer from Border District won the 1st runner-up place in two hours, 50 minutes and 3 seconds in the Male Master 2 Category. In the Half Marathon race, SGT Wong Wing-kuen from Police Tactical Unit Headquarters clinched the 2nd runner-up place in one hour, 19 minutes and 30 seconds in the Male Master 1 Category. The 10-km race saw SGT Ching Ying-wai from Hung Hom Division and PC Fong Chi-on from Airport District capturing the 1st and 2nd runner-up places in 35 minutes and 17 seconds and 36 minutes and 12 seconds in the Male Master 1 Category respectively. WSGT Wong Yin-yee from Ta Ku Ling Division ranked third with 45 minutes and 46 seconds in the Female Master 2 Category.
