With the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events less than one month away, the Force's preparation work to ensure the security of the Events has reached the final stage. A sign of this was on June 27 when Mr Liu Shaowu, Director, Security Department, Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), and Mr Cai Yansen, Deputy Director, arrived from Beijing and presented the Force's Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards in a simple yet solemn ceremony in PHQ.

At the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Tsang Wai-hung accepted the Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards from Mr Liu, on behalf of the Force. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Liu expressed his gratitude to the Force for its efforts in planning the security arrangements for the Events, and noted that BOCOG had full confidence in the arrangements.

Mr Liu stressed that the security arrangements to be implemented, are essential in ensuring a "safe Olympiad", and cited the success of the Olympic Torch Relay in Hong Kong in May as a good example of the professionalism and ability of the Force. He expressed his confidence that the Events would be equally successful.
