Police Volleyball Club reaching out

In a bid to improve their players' skills and tactics, the Police Volleyball Club is constantly looking for chances to pit against outsiders.

Last year, the club's Men's and Ladies' teams participated in the World Police Fire Games (WPFG) in Adelaide, Australia. At the end of the day, the Ladies' Team beat the South African team to capture the third place, while the Men's Team garnered valuable experience from the Russian team. In beach volleyball, two mixed teams entered the semi-final.

With the experienced gained last year, the Police Volleyball Club is actively preparing for the WPFG to be held in Vancouver, Canada, next year.

The Men's Team has been organising the annual Lomas Cup for Disciplined Forces. Vying for the cup with the Force earlier this year were Fire Services, Correctional Services, Custom & Excise and Immigration departments. Every year, the Force has a close encounter with the Fire Services, but this year the Police team edged out all contenders and brought home the champion trophy.

The Ladies' Team organised the Felicia Cup to play with teams from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong City University and Hong Kong Institute of Education on June 1. Chief Superintendent (PS&SR) Choi Wong Fung-yee was on hand to cheer on the Police team as a guest of honour. The team lost the game but gained the friendship of the tertiary institutes.

The Police Volleyball Team welcomes Force members to join its practice session to be held at the Indoor Sports Hall at PSRC from 7 pm to 10 pm every Thursday. For enquiries, contact Ms Lam at 9225-1549 (for Ladies' team) or Sam at 9055-1461 (for Men's team).
