Officers from Kowloon West Region, New Territories North Region, Personnel Wing, Support Wing, Operations Wing and Police College escorted the hearse to Gallant Garden, where a bugler from the Police Band sounded the "Last Post" as PC So's coffin was lowered into the grave. The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, accompanied by Acting Commissioner Yam Tat-wing, went to the funeral parlour to pay his last respects to PC So as the latter's family held a vigil in the evening before the funeral service. Among those paying their last respects to PC So on the day of the funeral service were Aide-de-Camp; Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee; Secretary for the Civil Service, Ms Denise Yue; Commissioner Tang King-shing; Senior Directorate Group Officers; senior officers from policy bureaux, departments and other disciplined forces; representatives from major Formations, Regions, Districts and Force staff associations, as well as many of PC So's friends and colleagues.
Eulogy
"Mr So dedicated himself to the Force. He belonged to the younger group in his team. Though still being junior in the Force, he became very soon the backbone of his team because of his ardour and vigour for work. Whenever there was a new job, he often was the first one to do it. He never hesitated to seek help whenever he came across any difficulty and tried to accomplish the job with his work experience and knowledge. "He had worked hard at his post. He once said, 'A job is not only for promotion and pay but also for being able to do what I like. The most important thing is I can find satisfaction and interest from my job.' "The journey of his life seemed short but he had found his favourite job and his beloved wife. In the eyes of his colleagues and friends, Chi-ho was a responsible person who cared for friendship. In his family, he was a good son to his parents, a good brother to his sister and a good husband to his wife. "His devotion to duty deserves the respect of all of us," SIP Lam noted.
