THKI road safety seminar for coach, school bus drivers |
||
In support of Traffic Branch Headquarters' School Bus Safety Campaign, Traffic Hong Kong Island (THKI) recently tailor-made a "Driving Safety Seminar" for coach and school bus drivers in a bid to make them more aware of their responsibilities as professional drivers. Around 60 drivers attended the seminar. As tourist coaches and school buses carry a large number of passengers per trip, accidents involving these vehicles may easily result in fatalities and serious injuries. Under these circumstances, drivers' responsible driving attitude and correct mindset will play a crucial role in preventing accidents. Therefore, the safe ways for coaches and heavy goods vehicles to go down a long hill slope and the correct use of braking system were highlights of the seminar. Locations of all the long hill slopes in Hong Kong Island Region and the amended drink driving legislation were also introduced at the seminar. Showing a great interest in what were disseminated and discussed at the seminar, the participating drivers generally took the view that THKI's initiative made them more aware of road safety and occupational safety and health. They also promised to be more careful while descending long hill slopes. THKI hopes that the seminar would yield some tangible results.
