Seminar well received

Every year, the Force sends a number of officers to receive overseas training. In a bid to provide a forum to share the experience and insight acquired from the training, the Police College, in collaboration with the Personnel Wing, organised an Experience Sharing Session on October 24 and invited officers who had attended Overseas Development Training to deliver talks and share their experiences with their colleagues at the college's Seminar Hall.

The seminar lasted for two hours, featuring presentations by four speakers. Chief Inspector Choi Chin-pang from the Police College's Research Centre spoke on the Canberra Police's experience of "Use of force against mentally disturbed person"; Chief Inspector Yeung Man-pun from the Personnel Wing's Human Resources Research Division on the UK West Yorkshire Police's experience of "Police response to emergency incidents"; Senior Inspector Sean Lin from Information Systems Wing's Support and Security Division on "How to engage the community for policing through the use of public IT media", again from the West Yorkshire Police's experience, and retired Chief Superintendent Tsui Yiu-kwong on the overseas education experience he acquired from the University of Cambridge.

Over 40 officers from Inspectors to Superintendents attended the seminar, and their feedback was overwhelming. In view of this, the Police College and the Personnel Wing will organise more similar seminars. Watch out for more information on the NoticeBoard.
