More support needed for charity

Chief Inspector Paul Keylock and former Senior Superintendent Peter Barnes have received pledges totalling about $400,000 for their participation in the 56-km 2 Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa, in April next year to raise funds for a special school in Central - the Watchdog Early Learning and Development Centre.

The pledges, however, fall short of the pair's target of $1 million, and they are appealing for more support. Many members of the Force have made donations, besides many local business leaders. Those wishing to sponsor the charity run may make out cheques payable to Watchdog Limited and send them to Paul at the Kowloon City Magistracy.

All the money raised will go towards the refurbishment costs of opening a second centre in Jordan by Watchdog Limited. After works are completed in February next year, the new centre will provide full time education for the 60 children on the waiting list.

Meanwhile with about five months to go before their Ultra Marathon, Paul and Peter will warm up by taking part in the Macao Marathon on December 7 and the Hong Kong Marathon in February next year.
