The Force' Vectrix Electric Scooter won the top award as "Bike of the Show 2008" at the Hong Kong Motorcycle Show 2008 held at Chater Road, Central, on November 2.

This annual event was run by the Classic Auto-cycle Museum of Hong Kong to showcase machines from all sections of the Hong Kong motorcycle community, including bikes from motorcycle dealers and several government departments. The show culminated with the award of 12 "Concours d'Elegance" Categories and the "Bike of the Show 2008" title.

According to the founder of the show, Mr Ian Foster, the Force Electric Scooter, in the eyes of the judges, made the greatest impact on the motorcycle show.

"The judges' selection, from all the motorcycles on display at the show, applauds the Police for seriously considering these environment-friendly, alternative modes of transport. Their decision on the top award was by no means an easy one; it was based on the bike's innovative technologies, benefit to the public, and its popularity with both the young and old visitors to the show," he noted.

The Force's six Vectrix Electric Scooters are presently undergoing an extensive evaluation trial in three Districts. The trial would bring the scooters to a variety of environments and conditions likely to be encountered in their future roles. Making their debut at the Olympic Torch Relay, the electric scooters showed great potentials for the urban policing environment.

The trial will be extended to Traffic Formations after delivery of four more electric scooters early next year.
