Thanks to impressive support from all levels within the Force, the Force Research Award Scheme (FRAS) has received 16 entries before submission closes in three months. Interested parties should note that they have to submit their papers to the FRAS Working Group on or before February 28 next year. Participants may enter either one of the three FRAS Categories, i.e. Policy Wing Category, Region Category and Individual Officer Category. Among the 16 entries received, half of them are for the Individual Officer Category, almost 40 per cent for the Policy Wing Category, and the rest for the Region Category. The entries are related to the theme of FRAS, i.e. improvement of Force policy or performance, from a broad spectrum of perspectives, covering personnel and training (43 per cent), crime and security (25 per cent), management service (19 per cent), and operation and support (13 per cent). Of the 16 entries, two have been jointly written and the rest are individual articles. The diversity of the participants, including superintendent rank (31 per cent), inspectorate (42 per cent), junior police officer (16 per cent) and civilian (11 per cent), demonstrates that FRAS is receiving support from all levels in the Force. The FRAS entries are of high quality. Some of the research papers, which matched the theme of this year's Symposium on Police Studies of the Strait cum Hong Kong and Macao, were also presented at the symposium and published in the symposium album. (Please refer to the article about the Symposium for details). FRAS encourages and recognises police research in the Force and is open to Major Formations, Formations and individual officers. As a token of appreciation, a number of awards with prizes will be allocated in each entry category, including certificates issued by Deputy Commissioner (Management) and book vouchers.
