October 30 saw the successful staging of the Kowloon West Regional Sports Day 2008 at Police Sports and Recreation Club. Ten sport events including football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, ten-pin bowling, tug-of-war, distance race and relay were held, and the organising committee had, in addition to the events, included programmes related to "Physical Fitness and Health Management" (PHM).

Good weather made every athlete representing different Formations feel energetic that day. Following the opening ceremony, where Kowloon West Deputy Regional Commander Lo Wai-chung and the commanding officers from various key Formations officiated, tough competition commenced, vying for various trophies.

In support of PHM, the day was packed with a variety of events on healthy lifestyle, including exhibitions by the Dragon Boat Club, Sailing Club and History Club, as well as seminars by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health and the Tobacco Control Office. While enjoying the exciting games, officers obtained various healthy lifestyle messages.

Prior to the prize presentation, all participants relaxed over a funny game. At last, both the Tang How-kong's Cup for the Overall Champion and the Lo Wai-chung's Cup for the Best Cheering Team went to Yau Tsim District. The champion cheering team, in Halloween attire, was most impressive and welcome at the sports ground. Bursting with energy, other cheering teams used all their skills to cheer on their athletes, some presenting the idea of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games and some performing splendid dances.

Finally, the Sports Day closed in a carnival atmosphere.

Volleyball is a popular game on the Sports Day
