Two officers from the Special Police Unit of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau recently spent three weeks in New Territories South (NTS) Region on an exchange programme through arrangements made by the Civil Service Bureau.

New Territories South Regional Commander Tse Shu-chun warmly welcomed the officers, Class 3 Inspector Qiu Tianjiao and Class 3 Superintendent Lin Qili of Division 3 of the Special Police Unit, upon their arrival at NTS Regional Headquarters. Mr Tse then introduced the structure of his Region and gave a briefing on the developments in the Region in the years to come.

During their exchange programme, the Shanghai police officers, besides visiting various units like the Emergency Unit and the Regional Crime Unit, also observed the policing activities in various police districts, gaining a good idea of the Region and exchanging experiences with officers.

On the last day of the programme, NTS specially arranged a farewell tea reception for the two guests to meet the frontline officers who received them in the previous three weeks. Both the host and the guests gained a better idea of each other's work through discussion on policing matters.

Thanking the Force for its hospitality, the Shanghai officers said the exchange programme had given them a better understanding of the work of the Force, and enhanced mutual communication, adding that they were impressed with the professional image NTS officers had projected.
