The "Kick Boxing Programme", jointly organised by the Operation Breakthrough, Tuen Mun District and Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups - Tuen Mun Centre, was launched with an opening ceremony held at the Indoor Stadium in Butterfly Estate on December 12. A total of 16 girls, who are supervised under the Police Superintendent's Discretion Scheme, will participate in the eight-week "Kick Boxing" course, under the coaching by eligible officers of Tuen Mun District who are volunteering their services. The main objective of the programme is to boost the confidence of the girl participants, aged between 13 and 16, from Tuen Mun District and to help them establish a correct value of life by providing them with a sport supplemented by discipline training and professional counselling by social workers. During the opening ceremony, the officiating guest, Director of Management Services (DMS) Mike Dowie and the programme founder, Senior Superintendent David Grant, urged the participants to set a goal and to establish a correct value of life. The highlights of the opening ceremony were demonstrations of boxing, "Wing Chun Kung Fu", Karate, kick boxing and "Kick Boxing Dance" by five police volunteers in front of the guests, course participants and their parents.
