'Sunshine' members visit Government Laboratory |

The Regional Crime Prevention Office of Kowloon East launched a project called "Sunshine" in July last year to address the problems of youth drug abuse through education and communication. The targets of the project are secondary school principals, teachers and their students, and one of the project programmes is to arrange for them to visit the Government Laboratory so that they would know more about "youth drugs". The first visit was arranged on December 18 for 13 principals and teachers from five secondary schools in Kowloon East. That was also the first time school representatives had been allowed to visit and view drug examination. The Government Laboratory organised lectures and a tour of the drug examination unit for the visitors to gain a better idea of the effects of drugs, in particular the "Urinalysis". The visit was so well received by the participants that two more similar visits will be arranged in February and April this year.
