Bilateral Meeting comes to fruitful conclusion

 

The 17th Bilateral Meeting between the Force and the Ministry of Public Security concluded on February 18 in Shenzhen. The Force and its Mainland counterparts will continue to strengthen co-operation on training and intelligence exchange with the aim of maintaining law and order in the two regions.

At the 17th Bilateral Meeting, both sides have undertaken to continue strengthening co-operation on many fronts


At the Bilateral Meeting, the Assistant Minister of Public Security, Mr Chen Zhimin, led an 18-member delegation to discuss various issues with Commissioner Tang King-shing. The delegation comprised representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, Anti-smuggling Bureau, General Administration of Customs, and Guangdong Public Security Department.

Members of the Hong Kong delegation included Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing, Director of Personnel and Training Tang Hau-sing, Director of Crime and Security Lee Ka-chiu, Director of Operations Koo Sii-hong, Assistant Commissioner (Crime) To Chun-wai, Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Ma Wai-luk and Senior Superintendent Tang Ping-keung from Liaison Bureau.

During the Bilateral Meeting, representatives from both sides reported the crime situations in the Mainland and Hong Kong and reviewed the fruitful results of co-operation. Discussion also covered various topics of mutual interest, including training, anti-terrorism, border management, smuggling, public order, cross-boundary crimes and information systems.

The two sides agreed to enhance co-operation in police training, continue arranging officers for exchange programmes, and explore the curriculum concerned to meet training needs.

In addition, the Force and its Mainland counterparts agreed to further strengthen intelligence exchanges on anti-terrorism, crime, and public order management.
