DC and senior officers of MKDIST Chairman of Fa Yuen Street Hawker Association In a letter to DC MKDIST, the Chairman expressed his appreciation, as well as that of the many shopkeepers in Fa Yuen Street, of MKDIST's determined action to tackle pick-pocketing, petty blackmailing and harassment of shopkeepers in the vicinity of Fa Yuen Street. Thanks to the joint efforts by uniform and CID officers, the shopkeepers are now able to carry on their businesses in a peaceful environment.
Officers of CTF 1 C DIV CCB A Dutch businessman After leaving Hong Kong for the Mainland, the Dutch businessman sent CCB a letter thanking the officers for apprehending two South Africans for conspiring to steal the former's credit card. The arrest was made when the officers mounted a covert operation targetting two members of a South African syndicate, who worked in pairs at HSBC auto-teller machines as people withdrew money from the ATM.
WDSIP Cheang Mei-yiu, DSGT Lam Kin-sang and DPCs Cho Chi-keung, Wong Ying-kit and Li Lit-hong, all from DIT 2 APTDIST A local resident The resident forgot to take the $10,000 he had just withdrawn from an ATM at the Hong Kong International Airport, which was later stolen away. Despite lack of witnesses and clues, the officers were never deterred and subsequently discovered from a CCTV record that a suspect had driven a vehicle into the parking lot of the terminal. Based on this piece of clue, the officers apprehended the suspect, who was later convicted of theft in court, fined $5,000 and ordered to compensate the victim $10,000. Later, the victim wrote a thank you letter to APTDIST, expressing his great appreciation of the officers' efficiency and dedication to duties.
SSGT Chan Tak-on and PCs Chiang Wing-hang, Fong Chi-on and Tse Man-kam, all from ASU APTDIST Hong Kong Association for Conflict and Catastrophe Medicine and Fire Services Department The association and the department wrote to ASU, thanking the officers for saving two lives with their first aid skills while on duty at the Hong Kong International Airport.
SSGT Lo Chi-kin, PC Lo Cheung-kin and WPC Chan Leong-ting, all from PSU 4 MKDIST A Mainland visitor The visitor was separated from her 70-year-old husband in a crowded restaurant in Mong Kok, and phoned 999 for help. The officers quickly arrived at the scene and located the missing person following a five-hour search. After returning to the Mainland, the couple sent a letter, greatly appreciating the officers' efficiency and dedication to duties.
SGT Kong Sui-pak, PCs Wong Kwok-fai and Ao Ieong Chi-hou, and WPC Lee Choi-ha, all from TYDIV Son of a missing elderly woman An elderly woman wandered away from her home on a public housing estate on Tsing Yi for several hours before the officers located her and took her home. The woman's son later sent DVC TYDIV a letter, appreciating the officers' efforts and professionalism.
SGT Cheung Kwai-lun and PC Law Siu-ting, both from RAILDIST A tourist from Thailand After returning to her country, the tourist sent an e-mail to the Government, thanking the officers for successfully locating her parents whom she was separated from inside a MTR station.
IP Wong Yi-wai from DVIT 3 SSDIV and SGT Woo Chi-mun from C&IIB NT Office A local resident The resident said IP Wong lent a sympathetic ear to his complaint of being beaten up in a restaurant in Sheung Shui, and went to great lengths to explain the law and the procedures of prosecution. The resident also praised SGT Woo for providing a good service in connection with the complaint he had lodged with C&IIB.
