Officers visit command and control centre in Xiamen

Organised by Information Systems Wing, a six-member delegation comprising officers from the three land Regional Command and Control Centres (RCCC), led by Woman Superintendent Mimi Chan Wing-mee of RCCC Kowloon, paid a three-day visit to the Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau (PSB) on March 10.

The members were Chief Police Communications Officer Chan Kam-lun, Senior Police Communications Officer Chui Ting and Police Communications Officer (PCO) Yu Yee-man, all from RCCC Kowloon, PCO Wong Pui-ching from RCCC Hong Kong Island, and PCO Ho Ka-fai from RCCC New Territories.

The purpose of this visit was to provide officers working at RCCCs an opportunity to share experience and acquire a comparative understanding of the workflow and technology adopted by the Force and its Mainland counterparts in handling emergency calls and operation of a Command and Control Centre.

The delegates were warmly received by Mr Li Xiaobin, Vice Director General of the Xiamen Municipal PSB and were, throughout the visit, accompanied by Mr Lu Tao, Deputy Director of the Command Centre, Ministry of Public Security, who had specially flown from Beijing to Xiamen to receive the delegation.

The delegation also visited the Xiamen 110 Command Center, the Fire Services Control Center and the Xiamen Municipal Si Ming East Jialian Police Station.

At the Xiamen 110 Command Center, the Director of the Command Center of the Fujian Province PSB, Mr Zheng Yinyuan, and the 110 Command Center Director, Mr Cai Yunlan gave the delegation a detailed presentation on the operation and the technology used at the Command Center. The delegates were all deeply impressed by the operation, advanced technology and system adopted by the 110 Command Center.

The delegates highly treasured the visit to the Xiamen Municipal PSB as well as the experience sharing sessions. They found the visit very useful, broadening their vision and experience with regard to the day-to-day work of RCCCs and bringing them a better understanding of the job of their PSB counterparts.
