The Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), Mr Jat Sew-tong; Vice-chairman, Dr Lam Tai-fai, and six IPCC members, Dr Helena Yuen, Dr Lam Chi-kit, Mr Clement Tao, Mr Eric Cheung, Mr Eddie Ng and Mr Pang Yiu-kai, accompanied by IPCC Secretary, Mrs Philomena Leung, paid a familiarisation visit to Complaints Against Police Office (CAPO) on March 18.

During the visit, officers of CAPO and Force Discipline Section presented the work of CAPO and the Force disciplinary process respectively. The IPCC members also toured the CAPO Reporting Centre to see its operation, and put forward some valuable suggestions throughout the visit.

Receiving the IPCC visitors were Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Wong Fook-chuen, Complaints and Internal Investigations Branch Chief Superintendent Fan Sik-ming and CAPO Senior Superintendent John Ribeiro.

Mr Wong commented on the visit: "It gives the Council a better understanding of the complaints handling procedures and the Force disciplinary process. As a result, the visit will help the Council discharge its function of monitoring the handling of complaints. CAPO will continue organising similar visits to various Formations to enhance members' understanding of the difficulties being faced by frontline officers in carrying out their duties."
