The Police Mentorship Programme 2009/10 (PMP 09/10) was launched with an inauguration ceremony on March 21. In the sixth year running, the PMP has been expanded to cover full time non-final year undergraduates of the 10 universities in Hong Kong.

Before the ceremony started, police mentors, mentees and guests from universities attended a passing out parade, which took on a special format to celebrate the 60th anniversary of police training on the Wong Chuk Hang Campus. All found the parade very impressive.

Officiating at the inauguration ceremony, Director of Personnel and Training Tang Hau-sing attributed success of the PMP to continuous support by police mentors and local universities. Presenting souvenirs and appreciation letters to the guests and mentors, he announced that the well-received PMP Job Attachment Programme would continue this summer.

A total of 113 mentees have been selected from the ten local universities for PMP 09/10. They will be guided by 48 police mentors at ranks from Inspector to Superintendent, including 17 newly joined mentors and two assistant mentors. The programme will continue to contribute to recruiting the best candidates into the Force.
