The 15th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Tripartite Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Heads Meeting, hosted by the Macao Unitary Police Service, was successfully held in Macao between April 28 and 30. At the meeting, the CID Heads of the three jurisdictions discussed and worked out ways to combat cross-boundary crimes in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. Headed by Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Yam Tat-wing, the Force delegation comprised Assistant Commissioner (Crime) To Chun-wai and all Bureau Heads of Crime Wing. Mr Liu Ancheng, Deputy Director-General of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, headed the Guangdong delegation, whilst Mr Jose Proenca Branco, Commissioner General of Unitary Police Service, led the Macao delegation. Mr Yu Xinmin, Deputy Director-General of the CID of the Ministry of Public Security, and Ms Niu Lihua, Deputy Director-General of the Police Liaison Department under the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, also attended the opening ceremony of the Tripartite Meeting. During the meeting, the tripartite CID Heads agreed to reinforce the strategic partnership in fighting cross-boundary crimes and pledged to co-operate closely at both strategic and working levels. Agreements were reached to enhance the tripartite police co-operation against organised crimes on different fronts. The delegation heads also endorsed the establishment of the Electronic Communal Information Sharing Platform (ECISP), an electronic information-sharing infrastructure aiming at enhancing the efficiency of communication and co-operation amongst the three jurisdictions. Under ECISP, information on new crime trends; crime statistics; missing vehicles; police studies; major events of the three jurisdictions, and intelligence on individual cases will be exchanged in accordance with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Whilst in Macao, Mr Yam paid a courtesy call on Mr Wong Sio Chak, Director of Judiciary Police. Both sides had in-depth discussions and candid exchange of views on topics of casino-related crimes, and on further strengthening the working relationship between the Force and the Macao Police.
