Officers raise $643,000
for Special Olympics
A total of 984 Force members and their families showed their strong support for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, a fundraising event, held at the Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza on May 10.
After Commissioner Tang King-shing and other guests officiated at an opening ceremony, the Torch Run commenced with New Territories North Regional Commander Cheung Siu-wah leading the Force runners along the route at the Shing Mun River in high spirits.
The Force raised over $643,000 out of a total donation of $1.5 million by the seven disciplinary forces. The top three fundraising formations were Kowloon West Region, Information Systems Wing and New Territories North Region. As an individual donor, Mr Cheung Siu-wah contributed the second highest donation.
Tribute went to the Hong Kong Police Volunteer Services Corps for turning out over 180 volunteers to assist throughout the event. The Catering, Clubs and Sports Group, Personnel Wing also thanked all for their generous support for the event.
