To help achieve the Force Search Unit (FSU)'s objective of providing professional training, Key Points and Search Division (KPS) has made improvements in FSU training courses, including adoption of a modular learning programme on search and venue security for junior cadres.

Preparation for course design and documentation system commenced right after the security operation for the Olympic Equestrian Events in September last year to accredit with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) Quality Management System. After a series of certification audit exercises, FSU was awarded last month the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Certificate by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency on the cadre's qualification system.

ISO 9001 standard is a generic management system designed to be applicable to any organisation regardless of its size, nature of business and sector. ISO 9001 can be applied to every aspect of business, including training which is an important long-term investment of a company.

Obtaining ISO 9001 standard is FSU's first step towards professionalism and the unit is currently accrediting its professional learning programme for junior search cadres with the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework of Education Bureau through the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. KPS is committed to elevating search cadre's professionalism by providing high quality training and taking a lead in standardised best practices for major search and venue security operations in Hong Kong.
