Led by the Deputy Head Mentor of the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP), Chief Superintendent (Human Resources) Chau Kwok-leung, 30 PMP Mentees and Mentors visited Operations Wing at Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters (HKI RHQ) on May 23.

Regional Missing Persons Unit (RMPU) Officer, Acting Woman Sergeant Wong Pui-ching, first introduced the duties of the RMPU, and then explained the causes for missing person cases and the methods to locate missing persons, besides sharing her own working experience with the Mentees and Mentors.

The Mentees also visited the Emergency Unit (EU) and listened to Senior Inspector Wong Cham-sum introducing the daily EU work and the firearms and equipment of EU cars. This introduction gave the Mentees a better idea of how well trained the EU is to handle serious cases such as locating suspicious objects and dealing with violent persons.

Finally, the Mentees and Mentors visited the Regional Command and Control Centre (RCCC) to hear Superintendent Cheung Mei-hon and Senior Inspector Wai In-fun introduce the RCCC's roles and its daily support for frontline officers, as well as the functions of the RCCC's Advanced Monitoring System.

The PMP is a proactive scheme to attract university graduates aspiring to serving the community to join the Force upon graduation. The programme provides a platform of interaction between the undergraduates who join the programme as Mentees and officers at inspector and above, who volunteer their services as Mentors.

During their visit to Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters, Police Mentees gain an insight into the multi-faceted police work
