At the Knowledge Cafe Series 2 jointly held by Recruitment Division and Police College Research Centre on June 25, there was a lively discussion on selection of Probationary Inspectors (PI). Joining the discussion at the Police College were around 75 Junior Police Officers aspiring to advance to the PI rank.

Superintendent Eric Cheng, who is a Force Champion of the Knowledge Management Peer Advisors Scheme (PAS), conducted this experience-sharing session, with speakers coming from Personnel Wing, including Chief Superintendent (Human Resources) Chau Kwok-leung, Chief Inspector Jeff Tse, who is PI Extended Interview Director, and Recruitment Division Woman Chief Inspector Kit Tse.

At the invitation of the organisers, two inspectors - Ko Tik and Chang Ka-chun - recently promoted through the "Potential Officers Scheme" and the "Direct Application Scheme" shared their success stories with the audience.

Throughout the two-hour session, the speakers gave their presentations in a relaxing and amicable atmosphere, sharing their personal views of the selection process by way of examples.

A videotape of Knowledge Cafe Series 2 is now available in the Force Library at Police Headquarters. More Knowledge Cafe sessions, including the next two on money laundering and financial investigation, will be held in early August and September this year. Officers are advised to watch out for more details on the Force NoticeBoard.

Recruitment Express great success

Meanwhile, Recruitment Express was completed with huge success at the Police Headquarters on July 11. Through a multi-media publicity strategy, which included newspaper advertisements and online e-banners, over 2,800 applicants were attracted to submit their applications.

More than 1,200 applicants attended a one-stop selection process, including initial screening and group interview. Having set their hearts in a lifelong career, all applicants were well prepared for their interviews. The caring arrangement made during this recruitment campaign not only sped up the selection process, but also projected the Force's positive image to the community.
