Force wins Hong Kong MAKE Award

The Force has been selected as one of the top three winners of the Hong Kong Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award 2009.

The Hong Kong MAKE Award is organised by the Knowledge Management Research Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Apart from the commitment to knowledge management (KM), the Award recognises organisational efforts to transform enterprise knowledge and intellectual capital into superior services. It also aims to bring public recognition to leading Hong Kong organisations that have achieved outstanding performance in KM practices.

Announcing the result of the Hong Kong MAKE Award in mid-August, the judging panel recognises that the Force has undergone a mature KM journey and highly praised the Force's concerted efforts in KM promotion which include:

*Establishing an effective KM infrastructure which is able to capture all job-related knowledge and experience, and to share among all officers with the assistance of information technology and a number of people-based initiatives;

*Strong leadership commitment including the early identification of KM as a key project, linking KM objectives with its organisational goals, visions, strategic plans and operational processes, as well as giving continuous support over the years, and

*Substantive ability to retain and make use of intellectual capital through lots of knowledge-sharing activities, both formal and informal, which are considered effective vehicles to ensure all critical knowledge, including the customer care mindset, be cascaded down to all frontline duties even in the highly complex working environment.

In recognition of its achievements, the Force is entitled to use the Hong Kong MAKE Award logo on all its websites, brochures, business cards or other printed materials for a year.

Progressing forward from the Hong Kong MAKE Award, the Force also advances to become one of the 29 finalists, out of 52 Asian and Australian nominees, for the Asian MAKE Award 2009. The result of the regional level contest will be announced in mid-October.
