First Random Breath Test
on Cheung Chau

Officers of the Special Enforcement Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island reached out recently to let the public know that drink driving will not be tolerated anywhere in Hong Kong when they conducted the first ever Random Breath Test Screening Operation on the idyllic but busy streets of Cheung Chau.

As it has been reported that some drivers of village vehicles are fond of enjoying a few pints at lunchtime, the operation was planned with the assistance of Cheung Chau officers.

Many drivers were quite surprised to see the operation on their streets but voiced support for the action. The operation attracted many on-lookers on the busy main Waterfront Road as educational pamphlets on the evils of drink driving were handed out. During the operation, officers detained a vehicle for running on bald tyres, and summonsed a driver for not carrying his Village Vehicle Permit whilst driving.

The first outlying island Random Breath Test has taken many by surprise
