Since October 2007, Tuen Mun Division (TMDIV) has been running a programme called "Project Integrated Nurture" (Project IN), for secondary schools in Tuen Mun, in which Task Force officers of the division plan and run various activities for secondary school students with behavioural problems. The objective of "Project IN" is to identify such students as early as possible through three channels, namely schools, parents and the Force, and to provide whatever assistance necessary for them.

Task Force officers, along with school discipline masters, regularly visit and maintain close liaison with the students. Whenever necessary, the officers provide immediate support to schools to deal with juvenile delinquency. Furthermore, to further communication between the students and the Force, various activities were organised during longer school holidays. In 2008-2009, officers working on the project organised activities of different natures for over 100 students, including orienteering, rock climbing, war game, hiking and visits to drug addiction treatment centres. More students are benefitting from similar activities.

An award presentation ceremony of the project was held in Ho Ngai College on August 14. Officiating at the ceremony, Tuen Mun Divisional Commander, Acting Superintendent Chan Wui-nang pointed out that the project was a great success. "Through different kinds of activities, the participants can observe and learn what is team spirit, and pick up their confidence. Having learned the consequences of committing crimes and drug abuse, they might have a new outlook on life and stay away from the unruly," he noted.

During the ceremony, the participants also shared among themselves their feelings and the changes they had gone through after taking part in the project. Fong Yee-wah, a student of the Tam Lee Lai Fun Secondary School, said the project had fostered mutual trust and close ties between students and the Force.

Tuen Mun Division will continue to work closely with the schools and institutions in Tuen Mun to develop the project for the benefit of more students.
