The Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) Summer Day Camp brought more than 100 Mentees from 10 local tertiary institutes, and Mentors together in the Police College on August 22. On hand to welcome this gathering was the Deputy Head Mentor, Acting Assistant Commissioner Chau Kwok-leung. Organised by the Recruitment Division, Human Resources Branch of Personnel Wing, the day camp aimed at strengthening the bond between the Mentors and the Mentees. It provided an opportunity for the Mentees to boost their leadership skills, team spirit, problem-solving skills, analytical power and critical thinking. At the same time, the Mentors acted as role models, provided coaching, and shared work experience with the Mentees. The Mentees took part in a number of exercises and activities, including fitness awareness programme, role-playing exercises, group discussions, team building, and a college tour with the mentors. They also attended an experience-sharing session with three ex-mentees, who are now working as Probationary Inspectors. The highlight of the event was a group discussion led by Mr Chau and Recruitment Division Superintendent Patrick Kwok. All Mentees took the opportunity to ask Mr Chau and Mr Kwok for guidance in preparing themselves for the challenges ahead. The day camp concluded with a barbecue, during which the Mentees spoke highly of the event and regarded it as a good opportunity for Mentors and Mentees to get together and better understand each other. The Mentees also better recognised their own potential, which would benefit their pursuit for continued improvement and development. The Mentees also thanked their Mentors for giving them guidance and coaching, as well as the Recruitment Division for planning and organising the day camp.
