MEDIV promotes sea safety

Boat cruises and water sports are healthy and good ways to beat the summer heat. However, in any activity at sea, there are inherent dangers, and safety should always come first. For example in Sai Kung waters in recent months, there was a spate of boating and water sports accidents, of which nine resulted in deaths.

In view of these accidents, Marine East Division (MEDIV), with the support of the Sai Kung District Council and the Sai Kung District Office, disseminated messages on sea safety and displayed publicity materials at two public piers in Sai Kung, especially targetting pleasure craft passengers. MEDIV is greatly encouraged by the response from the public and the seafaring community, and hopes that, with their co-operation, the number of accidents would be reduced.
