LTV Workshop to focus on consultation and staff engagement |
||
First launched in 1997, the Living-the-Values (LTV) Workshop has been continuously reviewed and refined to enhance Force members' commitment to quality service and continuous improvement in meeting the public's rising expectations in a rapidly changing society. The workshop is considered one of the most effective means to align officers' personal values with Force Values and to reinforce Force Values at all levels.
A total of six "Waves" of the workshop have been held. The design and development of Wave VII will be refined to encourage more bottom-up discussion, sharing and self-reflection, according to the Force Committee on Service Quality (FCSQ). The training needs and the theme for Wave VII have been identified through consultation and various feedback channels, including the Staff Opinion Survey 2007, which raised concerns of "change management" and "communication", feedback from Major Formation Commanders, and issues of concern for the Senior Management. The FCSQ has set the theme of LTV Wave VII Workshop to be "Professionalism" - "Professionalism in the changing world" to be more specific, following further consultation with Focus Groups comprising all three levels of workshop participants, namely Superintendent, Inspectorate and Junior Police Officer Cadres. As a result of the consultation, the theme of "Professionalism" will focus on three key areas and related Force Values in line with the purpose of the LTV Workshop, i.e. "Responsiveness to Change", "Effective Communication both within and outwith the Force", and "Dedication to Quality Service and Continuous Improvement". The Wave VII Workshop aims to: * promote officers' awareness and sensitivity of the need to meet public's increasing expectations in a rapidly changing society; * enhance officers' understanding of effective communication with all stakeholders by listening to their needs, and * strengthen officers' belief and efforts in striving for quality service and continuous improvement in everyday work. The design and development of the Wave VII Workshop are now in progress, with the aims of addressing officers' needs and arousing their interest. Engagement of officers at all levels is required throughout the process of workshop design and development to promote staff involvement and communication in Wave VII at an early stage. As real case scenarios can arouse interest in discussion, Service Quality Wing (SQW) is now organising a video-clip competition on the theme of Wave VII for all Force members, including civilian and auxiliary. The selected video-clips will be incorporated into the training package on the LTV Workshop. Entry form and competition guidelines are available on the SQW website. Force members' input and active participation will make a difference and ensure that Wave VII reflects their concerns and achievements.
