Joint efforts to create drug-free HK | |||
The Central District (CDIST) and the Central District Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents' Council jointly staged a weeklong exhibition of anti-drug posters at Shun Tak Centre, Sheung Wan, last month, showing over 150 entries to an Anti-drug Poster Design Competition by Central District JPC members. The posters carried the theme of "Resist temptation of drugs, beautiful life before us", and visitors to the exhibition voted for "My favourite poster", "The most creative poster" and "The most impressive poster". On the afternoon of August 30, the CDIST and the Central District JPC Honorary Presidents' Council held the Appointment of Central District JPC Anti-drug Ambassadors cum Poster Design Award Presentation Ceremony at the mall. Officiating at the ceremony were Chairman of Central District JPC Honorary Presidents' Council, Mr Li Ying-sang; Chairman of Central and Western District Council, Mr Chan Tak-chor; Acting District Officer of Central and Western District, Mr Yu Chi-hang; Chairman of Central and Western District Fight Crime Committee, Ms Au Yim-lung; Member of the Action Committee Against Narcotics, Dr Cheng Chi-man, and CDIST Commander Chiu Wai-yin. During the ceremony, JPC members staged an anti-drug play. A former drug abuser then gave an account of her painful experience, and three poster design competition awards were presented. In addition, 30 JPC members from five Central District JPC Secondary School Clubs were appointed "JPC Anti-drug Ambassadors" to pass on anti-drug messages to their friends and schoolmates. After the ceremony, the officiating guests and the "JPC Anti-drug Ambassadors" handed out anti-drug leaflets to the public, lending support to the government's efforts to create a drug-free Hong Kong.
