To promote healthy lifestyle, New Territories North (NTN) Region held its 2009 Regional Sports Day at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on October 16 as officers did their best to bring home the best results for their units.
The officers pitted against each other's skills in a variety of events, including 9-a-side football, 3-a-side basketball, badminton, table tennis, tug-of-war and indoor rowing. Competition was tough as they were very close in strength. Following rounds of tough battles, Tai Po District won football, tug-of-war and indoor rowing, while NTN Regional Headquarters (HQ) Team B comprising Police Tactical Unit NTN and Quick Reaction Force NTN took the titles of basketball and two fun games; Border District clinched the table-tennis trophy and NTN Regional HQs Team A comprising Emergency Unit NTN and Administration NTN took gold in badminton.
During the award presentation ceremony, the spectators, in high spirits, brought the event to a climax with non-stop applause, particularly when NTN Regional Commander Cheung Siu-wah presented the Major Unit Trophy to Tai Po District, and the Minor Unit Trophy to NTN Regional HQ Team B.
