In view of the ever-growing interest of Non-Ethnic Chinese (NEC) youths in joining the Force, Recruitment Division (RECDIV) and Police Community Relations Office of Wong Tai Sin District (PCRO WTSDIST) jointly organised a police recruitment talk for the students, parents and teachers of the Islamic Dharwood Pau Memorial School recently.

The talk introduced, among other things, entry requirements, selection process and the prerequisites for recruits.

The talk attracted 150 students and teachers. Over half of the students are NEC, and they found police work meaningful and challenging. Many of them were attracted by job security and conditions of service.

As some NEC might find the Chinese language difficult to master, thus affecting their confidence in joining the Force, RECDIV focussed their talk on the requirements of the Chinese language and offered tips on how to learn Chinese.

At the end of the talk, Headmistress Chan Cheung-ping thanked RECDIV and PCRO WTSDIST for organising the event, which, she noted, had brought NEC students and Force members together, enhanced the students' understanding of police work and aroused their interest in joining the Force.
