Detective Senior Inspector Lam Yiu, and Detective Senior Police Constables (DSPCs) Chan Chi-ming and Yu Siu-fung, all from Liaison Bureau (LB), attended an attachment programme at INTERPOL Liaison Office Bangkok (LOBANG) from December 10 to 11. The two-day programme afforded an excellent opportunity for the three liaison officers to gain a deeper understanding of the operations of INTERPOL, LOBANG and the National Central Bureau Thailand (NCB Thailand).

The attachment programme was part of the Junior Police Officer Development Programme of LB to enhance the international exposure of the liaison officers, having left an indelible memory with the three officers.

DSPC Chan commented: "I have heard about INTERPOL and LOBANG, and worked closely with them since the first day of my attachment to LB. I also know there has been a Hong Kong Police Officer working on secondment there. It is absolutely an eye-opening experience to visit LOBANG and know the people that I have been liaising with."

The purpose of the attachment programme is to let LB's liaison officers personally understand the work of INTERPOL and NCB Thailand, exchange experience, and sample the challenges and difficulties of police work. They had a brief tour of the Royal Thai Police Headquarters to meet the staff of NCB Thailand and other local police officers.

DSPC Yu added: "The attachment programme was my first official visit to our overseas counterparts. I am glad to meet Thai policemen and learn more about their missions and visions. They are very professional in discharging their duties."

Chief Inspector Chan Wan-hung, the seconded officer from the Force and also the Acting Head of LOBANG, welcomed the LB delegation with an introduction of the work of INTERPOL and LOBANG, which was followed by sharing of experience amongst his staff and the LB officers. Both DSPCs said they had a fruitful visit and got a better idea of the work of INTERPOL at a regional level.
