The year 2010 marks the 37th anniversary of the Police television programme, "Police Magazine". In the new year, "Police Magazine" will continue disseminating crime prevention messages and forging Police-public co-operation in fighting crime. The programme will also report on the latest crime trend and modus operandi with a lively and interesting presentation style. Besides crime information, TV audience will get to know better the work and latest developments of the Force, as well as new legislation.

To provide crime prevention tips to the public, Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) and RTHK have presented a brand new series "Crime Prevention Tips". Famous footballers and East Asian Games (EAG) 2009 gold medallists, Chan Siu-kei and Yapp Hung-fai, will be guest hosts of the series. The series will remind the public of the nitty-gritty of their daily life that could help prevent crime and reduce losses resulting from absent-mindedness. The series features four episodes, with the first one broadcast on January 8.

PPRB and RTHK launched the "Crime Prevention Tips Series" with a "New Year Crime Prevention Campaign" at Times Square, Causeway Bay, on January 6. Eight EAG gold medallists lent their full support to the campaign as Special Guests, namely Chan Siu-kei and Au Yeung Yiu-chung of the Soccer Team, Li Ching and Tang Peng of the Table Tennis Team, Christina Mak and Roger Ngan of the Squash Team, and Samuel Yu and Michael Lo of the Artistic Cycling Team. Together with "Police Magazine" hosts Ricky Cheung and Andy Lau, the gold medallists drove home the importance of crime prevention, played games with the spectators and distributed "Police Magazine" red packets to the public. The campaign attracted wide public attention and media coverage.

New host of "Police Magazine"

In December last year, a new face, Police Constable (PC) Philip Yim from Marine Region, joined the "Police Magazine" family, and will soon replace PC Andy Lau as a new host. Philip joined the Force in 2003 and served in Cheung Chau Division, Police Tactical Unit New Territories South and Task Force Sub-unit of Marine South Division. He is a keen sportsman as well as a qualified coach for diving, swimming and first aid.

Philip will make his debut on "Police Magazine" on January 29. It is hoped that he will bring a refreshing change to the audience.

"Police Magazine" is broadcast between 7 pm and 7:30pm every Friday on ATV Home, hosted by Sindy Lau, Senior Inspector Ricky Cheung and PC Philip Yim. The hosts of "Police Report" are Superintendent John Cameron, Superintendent Bradley Wright and Chief Inspector Mark Anstiss.
