Resident praises officers over house collapse

0 Photo

Officers of Kowloon City District (KCDIST) assisted in the clearance operation carried out by the Buildings Department in a building adjacent to the one at 45J Ma Tau Wai Road, which collapsed a few days before. In the operation, the officers managed to retrieve the belongings of some residents, and a search team of the Force Search Unit was also called out to comb a flat. Eventually, the team retrieved some cash, ornaments and articles with memorable value.

A flat occupant later wrote to KCDIST and Hung Hom Division, praising the officers for what they had done for him. The letter reads:

To: All the Police Officers of Kowloon City District and Hung Hom Police Station

I am now living in Shek Lei Estate, Kwai Chung. I would like to thank all of you for your help, for giving us back the things that were left in our flat located at 45H Ma Tau Wai Road. On February 13, I, assisted by police officers, collected belongings recovered. Though having lost my home, I am very grateful to the officers for helping me recover most of my belongings, including a photo of my late father. This is the only photo I have and it means a lot to me. What the officers had done for me, as well as the other victims of the house collapse, really shows we have a very fine Police Force.
